Publish date: 10 August 2022 / Health

Four years after the foundation stone laying ceremony, the local authorities and the population of Tékane took delivery of their community pharmacy on July 30 during an inauguration ceremony.

This facility, whose construction progress was severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, is the result of the work of ACTUME association (Association Contre la Tuberculose et les Maladies Endémiques), which brings together Mauritanian nationals living in France who are working for the development of their homeland, and to which PPM laboratories is providing support as part of its CSR policy.

This pharmacy will facilitate care access for approximately 17,000 patients and will be a place of orientation, information and exchange dedicated to the health of the most disadvantaged. It will also help improve the quality of health care through the traceability of medicines and a permanent health prevention strategy in this commune, located in southwest Mauritania, not far from the border with Senegal.

It was equipped with the help and expertise of PPM, which was the project manager for the installation and fitting out of the pharmacy, since 80% of the products in the pharmacy are PPM products.

Specifically, in agreement with Dr. Ousmane Sy, the pharmacist in charge of the equipment, PPM team composed of the supervisor for Mauritania, reinforced by the one for Senegal, trained the saleswoman on techniques and products.

PPM enabled the community pharmacy to open an account with the wholesalers to ensure a regular supply and took care of the shelf arrangement of all the products.

PPM’s action was greatly appreciated by the organizers, the authorities and especially by the population during the official inauguration ceremony, during which all attendees express their gratitude and contentment towards it.
